Fundraising for Cancer Through Fretwire Bracelets

I recently re-connected with my cousin Kevin at the funeral, of his sister Janet, who had passed away from breast cancer age 33. Being at the wake brought back so many memories of my cousin Janet. Not seeing her for years didn't seem to matter — it felt like just yesterday because as kids we were best friends and hung out all the time. Kevin and I made a promise to never let life get between us again.

During the summers I spend a good amount of time on the weekend on my boat, and have made many boater friends. Last summer I learned some close friends had to sell their boat; the wife was dying of cancer and they were trying to raise money to pay the hospital bills. I had a conversation with her and told her to hang in there — there's still a really good chance she'll survive this. Within a short span of time I learned of another friend diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This caused me to think of all the people I've known that have died from this terrible disease. Within a few short months I learned that both of them had passed on.

I started wearing an additional bracelet for each in their memory. So I started thinking how can I help? What can I do to help conquer this dreadful disease? In my world, music and life go hand in hand. I decided to help support the fighting of the many types of cancer by donating $1.50 of each bracelet sold at shows to the buyer's designated cancer charity. The Fretwire Bracelet is a way to stylishly show others that you support cancer research to wipe out this terrible disease.
